Nkuku was founded by Ali and Alex Cooke who set off on a year-long round the world trip and who were inspired and humbled by the talented craftspeople they met on their journey.
They set up their ethical company in 2003 borrowing the name Nkuku from a village in Zambia and the company has continued to grow without compromising their values. They have a hands on approach; personally meeting and working with all their producers and makers. Ali and Alex know each product has a story to tell.

These stylish Niwari candlesticks are hand turned from mango wood. It is a beautiful material to work with and the natural grain and varying shades of the natural wood are enhanced by the curves and shape of this elegant candlestick.
The mango wood pieces are created from sustainable mango wood. The Mango trees are initially grown for their fruit, harvested over a number of years. Once the trees have stopped bearing fruit, they can be cut down and used to make our wooden pieces. This allows farmers to plant more trees and provides them with a supplementary income. Please note candles aren’t included
